Asian Pacific Heritage Month Banner

# Celebrating Asian Pacific Heritage

Every May is dedicated to recognizing the contributions and achievements of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. Over 20 million Asian and Pacific Islander Americans reside in the country, making this group the fastest-growing demographic.

Jacksonville Public Library has an AMAZING collection of books featuring stories and information written by and about people from varied backgrounds, races, ethnicities, life experiences, and viewpoints. Throughout the month, the Library will highlight books in our collection by and about Arab Americans including here on our blog, through book displays in your local library, and via reading challenges for all ages on Beanstack.

# Special Drop-In Activity

 Drop-In! Lantern Making

Drop in activities image

Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month by creating paper lanterns at the Library! Children and teens are invited to unleash their creativity and imagination in this hands-on workshop. At the end of the activity, they can take their beautifully crafted lanterns home as souvenirs. We can't wait to see what unique designs they come up with! Drop in after school on Wednesday, May 8, between 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. at Bradham and Brooks Branch Library.

Find more drop-in crafts and activities on our events calendar! You can also find fun crafts and other activities that you can do as a family, at home, on this month's edition of Junior Scholars.
